Any health technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), should be safe, effective and equitable. The emergence of novel health technologies such as AI brings new challenges and uncertainties, and it is essential that evaluation and regulation approaches keep pace to ensure their responsible development and implementation. The NIHR- supported Incubator for AI and Digital Healthcare will help build a research community that can collectively advance regulatory science and responsible innovation for AI in healthcare.

This will be achieved by developing and growing a community of patients, regulators, health professionals, policy-makers, industry, commissioners and others to share knowledge, identify challenges, co-develop solutions and grow talent and capacity, to ensure patient benefit whilst accelerating innovation.
